Finished

That's right kiddies! I finished the Marine Corps Marathon! Not at a great time, not at a time that I wanted to have finished, but, I.FINISHED!

I am so happy that I have met this goal in my life, and to go back to running for fun again. It has been a while now since I have gone for a run just for fun, and not because I have to meet a certain number of miles required. Yay for me and the other 20,000 people that finished. Yay US!

I also finished something else... Gatsby Girl! I wore it to work to celebrate my marathon ending. My co-workers are pretty impressed with it, and in fact, so am I. I have to admit that as much as I brag, I still feel a little self-conscious wearing hand knitted items outside the privace of my own house, either because it is not finished right, or it is too big, or whatever the reason. But GG is a gem! It is form fitting without being too tight, and the color is really pretty, and I even did fairly well on the finishing, so in some parts you cannot even tell that it is hand made.

The only modifications I made were taking out the cables, and making it two inches longer before shaping for the waist. I like my tops to be a little longer in order to elongate my figure, and distract people from the fact that I got a big caboose.

Pattern: Gatsby Girl from from Interweaves Fall 2006
Yarn: KFI Cashmerino (55% merino wool, 33% microfiber, 12% cashmere) (mostly gifted by ms. pea)
Needles: Sixe 3 addis, size 2 Susan bates.

As promised, here are some pictures (now stop bugging me! - you know who you are!):wait wait... one more:

How fantastic!! As if the marathon wasn't enough (great job btw, you should feel suitably proud). But all that ribbing on 2's?!?!? I bow down to you - it was clearly worth it, it's gorgeous.

Oh WOW. That is incredibly gorgeous. I never would have thought to take out the cables, but now I am (thinking about it). I am definitely, definitely making this ASAP. (I'm also tempted to make it the same color as yours -- so lovely!)

Thanks so much for posting! It was totally worth the wait.

Congratulations on finishing the marathon! Of course I read your post while eating a huge piece of cake...now I'm feeling like an even bigger slacker.

GG looks fabulous. The color definitely suits you. The sweater looks very delicate and feminine - and very figure flattering. Don't worry about the big caboose, I've got one too. I'm trying to come to terms with the big ole can. ;)

Seriously great job on both things - you really do rock.

Hey Paloma!! I've been thinking of you and did so as well on Sunday as I knew you were running in the marathon. I saw and talked with Mariana on Friday and commented it with her as well (our 20 year high school reunion was this weekend!). I'm so happy for you! I tried finding you in the crowd but I just couldn't pick you out!

Your GG sweater is gorgeous! You are so talented and I'm very impressed! Where can I get the order forms?

How beautiful! Yours is the first finished Gatsby Girl I've seen, and it looks awesome. Did you do something different with the neck as well, like cast off and let it roll? That looks pretty, whatever you did.

And congrats on your marathon, as well; I'm in awe of anyone who can do that.
